Synthesizing jazz with the astutely improvised musical forms of South Asia, the Indo-Pak Coalition transcends any preconception of Indo-jazz fusion. Led by visionary Indian-American saxophonist Rudresh Mahanthappa, this trio with Pakistani-American guitar virtuoso Rez Abbasi and rising tabla star Dan Weiss is already turning heads internationally in both the jazz and world music scenes. The Indo-Pak Coalition is pleased to announce the release of their debut album Apti on Innova Records on November 25, 2008.
CD Release show at Le Poisson Rouge on December 9.

Dave Douglas' Brass Ecstasy first performed in 2005 during the Festival of New Trumpet Music in New York. The band is a quintet of trumpet, french horn, trombone, tuba, and drums. Founded in memory of trumpeter, arranger and improviser Lester Bowie's long-standing group, Brass Fantasy, the group performs re-arranged contemporary pop music and original pieces interspersing groove, improvisation, and melody. Brass Ecstasy performed a new collection of music at the 2008 Chicago Jazz Festival including a new Douglas suite, commissioned by the festival in honor of it's 30th anniversary.
