Their both joined by Mr. Saturday Night/Sunday Best mastermind Eamon Harkin.

DOPPLEREFFEKT: First ever NYC show with KIERAN HEBDEN (a/k/a Four Tet) and SANTIAGO SALAZAR (UR | ICAN | Planet E - DJ Set)
Saturday, May 16, 11PM
Detroit electro legends Dopplereffekt are one of the more mysterious units of the contemporary electronic music scene. There are no interviews and hardly any live appearances. The composers hide behind strange German pseudonyms whereas the song titles and lyrics are in English, making a strange mixture of scientific, sexually explicit and political allusions. Even if at first sight the forefathers Kraftwerk seem to be more than present, Dopplereffekt have developed their very own and highly influential sound aesthetic. The brain behind the group is scientist Heinrich Mueller (Drexciya, Arpanet, Japanese Telecom, der Zyklus etc). They had a great impact on the electro clash sound around 2000 and tracks like "Plastiphilia" and "Rocket Scientist" helped soundtrack that era. What few people know is that the tracks were produced already 5 years earlier, in Detroit.

London producer/DJ Kieran Hebden is better known as Four Tet, the moniker under which he's created some of the more adventurous and eclectic beat records of the past decade. The newest of which is a two-track collaboration with shadowy dubstep-techno figure, Burial. It's pretty dope!

Santiago Salazar (a.k.a. DJ S2) has split his career between Detroit and Los Angeles, and his mixture of house and techno reflects each city's tastes. A former member of the legendary Underground Resistance crew (Los Hermanos, Galaxy 2 Galaxy), he now makes music alongside Esteban Adame as ICAN (for Carl Craig's Planet E label) and on his own.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE SHOWS ARE ON DIFFERENT DATES.

Listen: Four Tet - "Ringer"

Listen: DOPPLEREFFEKT - "Cellular Phone"
