Friendly Fires Nominated for a Mercury Prize

Friendly Fires (@LPR on Wednesday, August 12) have been nominated for a Mercury Prize, an award for the best British album of the year. Of the Mercury Pitchfork says, "It's a fun prize to keep track of because there's never any way of knowing who's going to win. Last year, for instance, mope-rock specialists Elbow [The Seldom Seen Kid] managed to beat Radiohead's In Rainbows to win the Prize."

Other nominees this year include Bat for Lashes, The Horrors, and Glasvegas.
