Eli "Paperboy" Reed @LPR on NY1

Le Poisson Rouge on Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village recently hosted the singer Eli "Paperboy" Reed, who is promoting his third CD, "Come and Get It."

"It's all about good, exciting love songs and pop music. That's what it's all about," says Reed.

One of the hot tracks on that CD, "Name Calling," was performed at the venue, as was another track, "Help Me," which gives advice about relationships.

Reed, a soul singer, has a wide range of musical influences.

"I love rhythm and blues and gospel music. I also love country music and things like that," he says. "So, Conway Twitty and George Jones as well as Ray Charles and Jackie Wilson, and, you know, Johnny Adams and more obscure."

For Reed, music is alive and well in New York.
