Check out the upcoming PARTIES at LPR!

Props w/ Kenny Dope
File Under: hip hop, dance party, maste
r of the mix

"PROPS", Wednesday nights at LPR's Gallery Bar is the continuation of Rich Medina's infamous Li'l Ricky's R
ib Shack parties on Wednesdays at the now defunct APT (RIP). Back at APT, Akalepse would rock the upstairs space, while Rich rocked the basement. For 8+ years NYC couldn't front...the combo was unbeatable. When it was time to move on, they chose to do it together.

Kenny Dope is one half of Masters at Work but also hugely successful in his own right as both a DJ and producer. Started DJing in the mid 1980’s with his first commercial productions available in the early 90’s. Taking influences from a wide range of styles: house, disco, funk, breaks, his varied productions mirror his eclectic listening tastes.

DJ Afrika Bambaataa
File Under: hip hop, electro-funk

During Bambaataa's early years, he was a founding member of the Bronx River Projects-area street gang, The Savage Seven. Due to the explosive growth of the gang, it later became known as the Black Spades, and he rose to the position of Division Leader. After a life-changing visit to Africa, he changed his name to Afrika Bambaataa Aasim. Bambaataa was influenced by the depiction of the Zulu warriors attacking British troops at Rorke's Drift in the Michael Caine film Zulu.
