Read a review of Helene Grimaud at LPR

Le Poisson Rouge is most closely identified with the world of new music, but since its founding it has also regularly featured traditional piano recitals. Its first classical music show, in 2008, featured the pianist Simone Dinnerstein playing the music of Bach and George Crumb, and the roster has since included Jonathan Biss in 2009, Marc-André Hamelin in September and, on Monday evening, the charismatic Hélène Grimaud.

The concert had a stylish intimacy. Ms. Grimaud wore a casual top and silky, wide-legged pants, and before playing, she described her love for New York by invoking the Beastie Boys song “An Open Letter to N.Y.C.”
