Self-Titled Streams Francesco Tristano's Idiosynkrasia

As closely aligned as classical and electronic music can be these days, we can’t think of too many artists who’ve been asked to play François K’s Deep Space party and a proper seated gig featuring crossover composers like John Cage and Philip Glass. And yet, that’s where Franceso Tristano’s at this week, as the Baroque-schooled composer/pianist celebrates the release of his Idiosynkrasia record with two very different New York gigs. Different but fitting. After all, Tristano’s recent Carl Craig collaboration was prefaced by studio time with Murcof (Not Classical) and the godfather of dub-techno itself, Moritz Von Oswald (Auricle Bio On).

Tickets are still available for the Bruce Brubaker and Francesco Tristano performance on Thursday night at LPR here.

Bruce Brubaker bring "Girl Talk Classical" to LPR

Bruce Brubaker on next week's concert featuring Bruce Brubaker and Francesco Tristano.
Next week, I'm playing an overlapped, simultaneous concert with Francesco Tristano, this time at Le Poisson Rouge in New York. It's billed as "[ Simultaneo ]." In the advertising it says: "Two concerts at the same time!" A manifestation of remix culture for sure -- it's Girl Talk Classical!

That's right. Girl Talk Classical. Check out Bruce's blog for the full post.

Just Announced: Murcof and Francesco Tristano Schlime

ON SALE NOW

Murcof was founded early 2001 by only member Fernando Corona in Tijuana, México. This project is about experimenting with electronic and classical music in their more minimalistic expression, to bring face to face digital precision with acoustic warmth and try and find harmony and complementation between them, in a way as a form of reflecting today's digitalized way of interacting with the world, with each other and even ourselves; a reminder that, regardless of the means, the end user will always be human. And always approaching technology as a tool of expression rather than as an end in itself.

Francesco Tristano, aged 25, is establishing himself as one of classical music’s rising stars. Growing up in Luxembourg of an Italian mother and living in Barcelona since 2003, he has an impressive CV; The winner of the 2004 Orleans International Contest, a highly prestigious competition dedicated to 20th Century classical music, he is a graduate of the very selective Juillard School in New York where he studied from 1998 to 2003, before studying at conservatories in Luxembourg, Brussels, and Paris…He recorded several albums (Ravel - Prokofiev - Schlimé in 2006, Luciano Berio – Complete Piano Works in 2005, J.S. Bach – The Complete Keyboard Concertos in 2004, Goldberg Variations in 2002…
