"10 Bands to Fill the LCD Soundsystem-Shaped Hole in Your Heart" according to Flavorwire...

Heidi Vanderlee of Flavorpill has provided a list of some great acts who can most certainly fill the void for those of you who are feeling empty inside, due to the departure of LCD Soundsystem...to check out said list, click here!

The first artist on the list is definitely an act to get excited about, UK's Mount Kimbie, read below to see what Heidi had to say about them:

Those Brits have always known how to drive you dance-floor crazy better than most of us on this side of the pond, and London university pals Dominic Maker and Kai Campos are no exception. While we’re reluctant to throw around terms like “post-dubstep,” Mount Kimbie possess a self-awareness and sense of structure that separates them from the mindless, glowstick-waving masses. The beats are pristine, but the benevolent warmth threaded throughout songs like “Would Know” remind you that two humans are truly in charge of the chaos. Crooks & Lovers is out now on Hotflush.

So quit cryin' about James Murphy and try something different, Mount Kimbie will be performing at LPR with Jamie Woon, Muramic & Com Truise on Thursday, March 24th. To learn more, click here!

Daedelus/Gaslamp Killer
File Under: downtempo, experimental, ambiet

Born Alfred Weisberg-Roberts in Santa Monica, CA, producer/instrumentalist Daedelus wanted to be an inventor from an early age, a sentiment that led to him
choosing an artistic moniker (in Greek mythology, Daedalus was known as an inventor, although Weisberg-Roberts also cites the character Stephan Dedalus in James Joyce's A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man -- as well as the ship in the Japanese cartoon Robotech -- as equally valid reasons for his selection) when he began releasing his own work. Despite the fact that he was formally trained on double bass and bass clarinet, had studied jazz at USC, and could play additional instruments such as the guitar and accordion, Daedelus chose to go the electronica route, often incorporating samples from the '30s and '40s into his IDM and left-field hip-hop.

Daedelus & Gaslamp Killer w/ Teebs & Samiyam will be performing @ LPR on Thursday, November 4th. To purchase tickets, click here!

Upcoming Electronic Music at LPR

Check out some of the electronic acts coming to LPR!

Nullsleep
File Under: 8-Bit, electronic, cyberpunk
Nullsleep is thealias of Jeremiah Johnson, an electronic musician whose style could best be described as post-cyberpunk: a combination of distorted synthpop, electro, and industrial produced with repurposed low-bit electronics. His approach embraces the politics of appropriation, leveraged limitations, destructive process anddata corruption. The result is a wall of digital noise driven by a heavy beat, expanding and collapsing in a series of glitches and drones emanating from cheap plastic devices. In1999 Nullsleep cofounded 8bitpeoples, a collective of artists interested in the audio-visual aesthetics of early home computers and video game consoles. He has since released a number of recordings through 8bitpeoples, Astralwerks, Aniplex and others. Based in New York City, Nullsleep has performed over 150 shows throughout North America, Europeand Asia, including successful world tours in 2006 and 2009.

Nullsleep is performing with Bit Shifter, Glomag & NO CARRIER August 22nd(THIS SUNDAY)! To purchase tickets, click here!

Stereo Total
File Under: alternative, indie, electronic

The music of the chanson- electro- nonelectro- garage- rock'n'roll- french-pop- rock-à-billy- disco- international- underground- duo Stereo Total can be described as: 40% Yéyétronic, 20% R'n'R, 10% Punkrock, 3% electronic effects, 4% French 60ies beat, 7% genious dilettantism, 1,5% Cosmonaute, 10% really old synthesizers, 10% 8-bit Amiga-sampling, 10% transistor amplifier, 1% really expansive and advanced instruments, a minimalist production, meaning a home- made- trash- garage- sound crossed with underground, authentic as well as amateurish, ironic as well as effective, pop as well aspolitical.

Stereo Total is performing with Les Sans Culottes August 25th, to purchase tickets click here!

Text of Light
File Under: experimental, noise, avant-garde
Text of Light explode with a formidable combination of free jazz skronk, seismic percussion, tonal drone and searing guitar noise,” said The WIRE magazine in 2008. The group was formed in 1999 with the idea to perform improvised music to the films of Stan Brakhage and other members of the American Cinema avant-garde of the 1950s-60s, an under-known period of American filmic poetics (Brakhage’s film 'The Text of Light' was used at the premiere performances and was the namesake of the group).

Text of Light will be performing at LPR on September 2nd, to purchase tickets click here!

Fennesz
File Under: experimental, electronic
Fennesz uses guitar and computer to create shimmering, swirling electronic sound of enormous range and complex musicality. "Imagine the electric guitar severed from cliché and all of its physical limitations, shaping a bold new musical language." - (City Newspaper, USA). His lush and luminant compositions are anything but sterile computer experiments. They resemble sensitive, telescopic recordings of rainforest insect life or natural atmospheric occurrences, an inherent naturalism permeating each piece.

Fennesz will be performing with Soap&Skin and Due East as part of the 2010 Moving Sounds Festival on September 4th, to purchase tickets click here!

Jimmy Edgar
File Under: alternative, hip hop, experimental
Lover. Fighter. Prophet. Freak magnet. Time-traveler. Musician, photographer and designer Jimmy Edgar is a wayward star-child streaking across the cosmic dance-floor. Endowed with a supernatural feel for futuristic funk, the Detroit native has been bleeping and grinding about the Milky Way since he was a teenage humanoid. While his peers were worrying about their grades and popularity Edgar was spinning alongside his hometown's DJ heroes and programming intricate beats that were unquestionably interplanetary communication disguised as dance music.

Jimmy Edgar of K7! Records is playing a CD Release party for "XXX" w/ Ca$$ete, Machinedrum, Sepalcure & more! To purchase tickets, click here!
