Just Announced: Lissy Trullie

On Sale Now

Lissy Trullie

Bio:
Lissy Trullie is a musician and band based in New York City. Their debut EP is titled Self-Taught Learner, and the response has been very encouraging to the young artists so far. They were featured in a New Yorker "Critics Notebook" written by Sasha Frere-Jones and Spin magazine named them one of New York's "finest new bands." Going on to say that "Trullie serves up tough new-wave riffs and throatily sung girl-group melodies that are as effortlessly cool as her favorite black leather jacket."

Rolling Stone gave the EP a glowing review. "With a tomboy growl and Television–ish guitar hooks, her first EP brings enough attitude to put art stars in their place. 'The notches in your belt make your pants tight!' she taunts. Then she makes those tight pants move to a bruising cover of Hot Chip's ‘Ready for the Floor.’ The girl can rock an after–after party."

The Village Voice noted that "Trullie's potential lies in her songs and the way she performs them: catchy yet disaffected, shot through with boozy energy and laden with the rawest guitar work possible." Her voice they said is a "Nico-like alto (which she mixes up with dashes of ethereal falsetto) untouchable even by Julian Casablancas." While MTV.com wrote that "Lissy lays a crackling Strokes-y deadpan over delirious dance-rock, casual as a 4:00 breakfast." Stereogum for their part, gladly debuted the EP's "very catchy" opening track "Boy Boy".
