Signal Performs Philip Glass' Glassworks (NY Premiere) and "Music in Similar Motion" - Second Show Added!




Due to popular demand, we have added a second show of Signal performing Philip Glass' Glassworks and "Music in Similar Motion."

The additional show, which is at 10:00pm on Sunday, April 11th, is currently on sale here.

Tickets are still available for the 7:30pm show as well. Get them while you can!

Signal performs Steve Reich's 'Double Sextet' reviewed





Signal commemorated Steve Reich's 2009 Pulitzer Prize-winning piece "Double Sextet" with a performance of the work on June 22nd at (Le) Poisson Rouge. The night consisted of an early set and an added late set, both of which also included a performance of Reich's 1984 piece "Sextet."

Just Announced: Late Show for Steve Reich's Double Sextet, Signal w/ Brad Lubman (conductor)

An impromptu concert and celebration on the occasion of Steve Reich's recent Pulitzer Prize win, with the composer in attendance. Conductor Brad Lubman will lead Signal in an all-live version of Double Sextet (2006) for 12 instrumentalists; also on the program will be Reich's original Sextet (1984).

"Philip Glass, in the round and seated"

A nice review of last night's "Signal performs Philip Glass" concert in the New York Times.

The conductor Brad Lubman formed the new-music chamber orchestra Signal just over a year ago, and it is already considered one of the most vital groups of its kind. Its specialty is music by composers who were once called Minimalists but who have discouraged that label for the last couple of decades.

Philip Glass is a charter member of that club, and on Sunday evening, Signal devoted a concert at Le Poisson Rouge to his Symphony No. 3 (1995) and the Suite from “The Hours” (2003)...
