Just Announced: Francis Jocky w/ Kaïssa

Francis Jocky

Multitalented singer, songwriter & producer Francis Jocky is something of an enigma, an artist with universal appeal and blessed with a unique voice. Listeners may hear an echo of Joan Armatrading, Seal, Sting, and Bob Marley. Raised in Paris, France, based in New York City and having performed around the world, Francis Jocky has developed a sound that transcends borders.

His music is a mellow blend of fantastic pop songwriting, international sounds and flavors, and soulful instrumentation.

He’s rapidly becoming an international personality, sharing the microphone or working with the likes of Bono of U2, Stevie Wonder, Jon Anderson, Isaac Hayes and Jacques Higelin, just to name a few.

From an early age he learned to express himself through music and by the age of twelve had begun playing piano and writing his own songs.

Francis Jocky has a wonderful duality as an artist, which probably has its roots in his combined educational and musical training. He is the recipient of a Ph.D. in International Relations from the prestigious Sorbonne University in Paris, France.

His latest project entitled "SANCTIFIED" was produced and recorded in New York City. Jocky blends aspects of Classic Rock n Roll, Pop, and Soul into a patchwork of tracks that will find a home in any true music lover’s collection.

While his recorded music is remarkable, live performances are his strength. Expect a highly energetic show with songs to sing and dance along.

Kaïssa’s singing career includes working with Salif Keita, Cesaria Evora, Manu Dibango, Paul Simon and many, many others. While recording and performing with various artists, Kaïssa’s first solo album LOOKING THERE has been released by Sony Music South Africa in 2005 and she appeared on five compilation by Putumayo World Music. Having just completed David Byrne’s world tour, Kaïssa is preparing to release her new EP, working on new material and planning for the next touring season. For the upcoming performance at Le Poisson Rouge she will sing her new compositions in a new, surprising setting.
