Radio Happy Hour's Tribute to John Hughes This Saturday

This Saturday Radio Happy Hour, with special guest Andrew WK, will pay an unexpected tribute to the late John Hughes. As WCBS's Brandi Thompson reports, "RHH creator Sam Osterhaut helped write the show, which he actually began weeks before Hughes' death, but that will now serve as an homage to Hughes. Star Andrew W.K. will be featured as memorable bad boy John Bender in the "Breakfast Club"-themed show. (Can you see the resemblance?) For Hughes fans, it's an event that's not to be missed!" Radio Happy Hour will be extending its stay at LPR in October, November, and December.

RHH will wind up its summer performances with Andrew W.K. on August 8, take September off, and then return in all its glory to LPR on October 10.

Radio Happy Hour is a live variety show featuring an old-time radio comedy/drama and guest stars such as Andrew WK. The show engages its guests – actors, musicians, authors – in a wildly right-angled conversation that careens between interviews, performances, and audience questions. And at the center of it all is a short, old time radio drama/comedy in which the guest stars as him or herself or, in some cases, as Nancy Drew. Audiences will see all of this--the interviews, the corny jokes, the guest performances, and the behind-the-scenes making of a radio drama--from 2 to 3 pm on the second Saturdays of June, July, and August. Radio Happy Hour is an updated, New York version of Hee Haw. With more drinking. And sound effects.

Drinking cheaply in the afternoon. Radio Drama. Famous stars pretending like they’re real people. It’s like the depression, but funnier.
